Oh happy day….(Aretha Franklin)

It is always a great day when you share an experience with a loved one and today as Chloe walked beside me on the Camino, it sure was a happy day.

She had the full backpack experience.

We left Ponferrada a little later than expected as we slept in a bit but we knew it was going to be only a 23.5km day, so we weren’t stressed. The trail took us mostly through vineyards and small quaint towns like Camponaraya and Cacabelos before heading up the hill to Pieros.

On the bridge over the Rio Cua just oitside Cacabelos.

Chloe and I decided to take the slightly longer but scenic route going up and over paths through vineyards before arriving in Villafranca del Bierzo.

The albergue we were aiming for was closed and the two other hostels full so we are again staying in a hotel. The view outside the window ominously shows that tomorrows hill climb is looming. Time for a siesta!

  1. So lovely for you to have Chloe join you Michelle it couldn’t get much better than sharing your pilgrimage with your daughter. We are thrilled for you that she had been able to join you. Love sue and Michael xxxx

    • It is wonderful to have Chloe here with us. She had no problem with the walk today although she was a little hot and asking, “Are we there yet?” in the last 30min but she was carrying my backpack up some hills at the time. She is with us for the weekend and then back to London on Monday afternoon. I’m loving this time with her. Xxx

  2. Such a happy day. I finished prac, got into my specialisation, got my second last mark back (I’m looking at getting two distinctions and a credit this semester) and it’s now only 19 days tip Europe! I’m glad you got to see Chloe while you’re over there. Hopefully, some of us will get to as well! Love you Mumma xxxx

  3. So good to have this time with Chloe. Give her my love 🙂 You look sooooo happy! It’s incredible how much our children can put a smile on our face – there is no greater joy to a Mum than her kids, not matter how old they are! Oh happy day indeed xxoo
